From Rome's Basilica of Santa Cecilia: Bride of Christ

Saint Cecilia and her husband who converted to Christianity were both martyred for the Faith in Rome.  Cecilia was tortured with steam for three days and then beheaded.  The decapitation was botched and for three days she lay dying and during that time she sang sacred hymns to the Lord.  For this reason Santa Cecilia is the patron saint of music and musicians.

When you have your own children consider naming some of them after early Roman martyrs and remember to always teach your kids to have special devotion to the martyrs of the Roman Canon.  Then when you visit Rome with them it will all come alive.
