  3. John,

Touring the Sancta Sanctorum with you and our group was one of the highlights of my many pilgrimages. Being close to where Our Lord instituted the Last Supper and where He was scourged and condemned was overwhelming. Your tour was the best part of our pilgrimage to Italy.

    Great to meet you,

  4. I am confused...
Our Lord did not institute the Last Supper in Italy neither was he scourged and condemned there.
Also...there is a sign on a pillar in a church in Rome stating that the pillar is that of the scourging. A recent visit to the Holy land has confirmed for me that this is not correct. The true pillar of the scourging is in a small Franciscan chapel in the bascilica of the Holy Sepulchre and it is of the authentic stone of the region. The black and white marble one in Rome is not authentic stone of the region. Someone needs to remove this pillar as it is incorrect.

  5. In regard to the pillar that Christ was scourged on: there are 3 and I have seen each of them with my own eyes.

At the Holy Sepulchre there are 2: the Latins have one and the Armenians have one. None are native stones from Palestine. Least of all, the Latin one which was made of porphery (which is the one you saw while there in the Franciscan chapel).

The Romans brought their own marbles with them to that part of the world. We go by what St. Helena said when there in the 300s A.D. Anyways, each of the pillars might have been there. We rely on oral history.
