NBC News at the Vatican

Dolan of NYC is one of the nicest guys and has one of the finest personalities of any prelate I've seen; a super fit for NYC.  Now to the real question: when will he bring back some of the nice extras such as the cappa magna?!

  1. Archbishop Dolan is a wonderful person, very dear and nice. Always wonder how people are. I imagine seeing him in St. Patrick's Cathedral uses cappa magna, would something wonderful. But I think it only happens when it
    is a cardinal.

  2. No, any ordinary celebrating Mass in his own diocese can wear the cappa magna; you don't need to be a cardinal. Archbishop Burke wore one frequently before he was made Cardinal--indeed, he even wore one at Novus Ordo Masses in his cathedral.

  3. No, he's got eminently better sense than that.
