What is Wrong with this Picture?

Church of St. Anthony, Calgary.

Sharing two parishes in one, never really works.

Would be nice to have a new location which presents an ambiance more appealing to new-comers and more apt for liturgical specificity.

A new church, of similar size, was just constructed in Chesapeake, Virginia, for 3.4 million U.S. dollars (excluding cost of land, no basement). Yes, one can build, or there is always the former St. Michael's in Calgary, valued at 8 million Canadian dollars and currently for sale. Just a thought.

  3. The FSSP is here only at the invitation (and at the mercy) of Bishop Henry, who makes it very clear that he does not like the Latin Mass. I don't think he'd let us buy a church, even if we could afford it, which we can't because most of the parishioners have many children (good) and consequently little spare cash (unfortunate). We have to step very carefully even to keep what we currently have. Pray for our priest, who can't make any decisions without first obtaining approval from the other (diocesan, Novus Ordo) priests of the parish. It's not easy for him; but we are lucky to have such a humble pastor, as without his amazing patience we would have probably been kicked out years ago.

  4. Ironically enough, this 2012, the former St. Michael's was recently purchased by the SSPX. I wonder what Bishop Henry was feeling when that happened.
