Today marks the end of the feasts included in the Christmas cycle of the Liturgy.
Christmas decorations stay up for 40 days and today they are taken down.
In the Vatican Basilica the canons have their popular procession each year on this day with the blessing and distribution of candles lighted and carried in procession. The anthems sung in this procession, Eastern in origin, are wondrous.
