Catholic Mother: Velda Moore RIP

Velda Louise (Wittenbrink) Moore of Chester, IL.
Velda was born August 29, 1933 to Fred Wittenbrink and Eva (Asbury) Wittenbrink.
She was born into eternal life fortified by the sacraments of Holy Mother Church on February 28, 2012.
She was a native of Chester and influenced many students as a teacher at St. Mary's Catholic grade school.
She is survived by her husband Charles, their four sons Kenneth, Fr. Jeffry, Richard and Marty, six grandchildren, Collin, Cole and Calen, sons of Kenneth; Margaret, Chandler and Charles "Chase" sons of Richard; a grand-daughter-in-law Lindsay and great-granddaughter Kaidyn, wife and daughter of Collin Moore.
Her surviving siblings are Howard Wittenbrink, Earl Wittenbrink, Pat (Wittenbrink) Thornsberry, Lenora (Wittenbrink) Wilson and Barbara Ann (Wittenbrink) Martin. Her surviving sisters-in-law are Mildred (Moore) Decker, Romana (Moore) Huff, Virginia (Moore) Moore and Geraldine (Moore) Hindman.

She is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Eva (Asbury) Wittenbrink and nine brothers and sisters. She was also preceded by her father and mother-in-law Charles and Hazel (Cotton) Moore.

Velda taught at St. Mary's School in the early 60's and later specialized in remedial education at SIU while still at St. Mary's. She was a homemaker, a Red Hat Lady and an accomplished genealogist. Velda was the mother of a Union Pacific Railroad Conductor, a Roman Catholic Priest, an Eagle Scout, a Correctional Major and a Correctional Sergeant.
