Tiara and Art and Beauty

We say the cultural value of art is to be found in the refining influence that the study and the appreciation of the beautiful have upon the individual (especially when these are coupled with the effort to produce it).

  1. In an ideal world art and politics would never touch. In reality they can't keep their hands off each other. So as in all things, politics lurks inside art: the politics of taste, the politics of protestantism. The danger is that for reasons more ideological than religious, some may feel compelled to destroy something like the tiara.

  2. I think this picture was taken during the reign of Bl John XXIII - from the tiara - I have seen photos of him wearing it but never Pius XII or Pius XI - any feedback?
